Hotel Photography in Visegrád: Photographing the Renovated Hotel Silvanus

Hotel Silvanus in Visegrád is one of the best-known hotels in the Danube Bend, thanks to its unique location and spectacular panoramic views. Situated on Fekete Hill, close to the Visegrád Citadel, the hotel offers an almost uninterrupted panorama over the Danube Bend.

In March 2024, a fire caused significant damage to the hotel’s fourth floor and roof structure, after which the property remained closed for more than a year.

Following the reconstruction, we were invited to photograph the newly renovated Hotel Silvanus. During the project, we created images of the refurbished guest rooms, wellness facilities, public areas and the exterior of the hotel. The complete visual package was complemented by drone photography and a hotel brand video.

Location Scouting Before the Photoshoot

We arrived in Visegrád the day before the photoshoot. For larger hotel photography projects, we almost always consider it important to thoroughly scout the property before the actual shoot begins.

We explored the guest rooms, wellness area, public spaces and, of course, the surroundings of the hotel. This allowed us to plan exactly when and from which angles the final exterior photographs should be taken over the following days.

Photographing the Rooms Around the Best Light

We spent a significant part of the first day photographing the hotel rooms and interiors. Hotel Silvanus currently has 148 rooms across nine different room categories. Some of the rooms overlook the forest or the Visegrád Citadel, while others offer direct views over the Danube Bend. The weather was slightly cloudier on the first day, so we deliberately decided to postpone photographing the rooms with panoramic Danube views until the following day.

In hotel interior photography, the ideal shooting time is often determined by more than just the room itself. If the view through the window is one of the room’s main selling points, it needs to look just as impressive in the photographs as the interior itself.

Three Days of Hotel Room Photography

During the first three days, we focused on photographing the guest rooms. The hotel staff was very well prepared for the photoshoot, with flowers, books, and carefully selected props placed in every room. Each room was pre-checked before shooting, with perfectly arranged, wrinkle-free bedding.

In many rooms, the view itself is a key selling point, such as the rooms overlooking the Basilica. For this reason, we usually capture two versions of the same image: one with the curtains open and one with the curtains closed. In rooms where the view is less important, we focus purely on the interior and photograph the space without highlighting the outside view.

This is why we especially appreciate it when the client is present on location — it allows us to make quick decisions together and ensure the final images fully support the hotel’s sales and marketing goals.

Photographing the Infinity Pool Above the Danube Bend

Perhaps the most photogenic part of the hotel is its new outdoor infinity pool, which offers a direct panoramic view over the Danube Bend. During the shoot, the wellness area remained open to hotel guests rather than being completely closed for the production.

Hotel Photography and Video Production at the Same Time

Alongside the photography, we also produced a hotel brand video for Hotel Silvanus as part of the project. We organised the photography and video production in parallel, allowing us to make the most of the same carefully prepared spaces and optimal lighting conditions for both types of content.

This approach makes it possible to create, within a single production, all the photography required for the hotel website, booking platforms and marketing materials, as well as video content for social media and other digital channels.

Ultimately, this is exactly what we wanted the final visuals to communicate: not only the newly renovated hotel itself, but also the unique setting and guest experience that have made Hotel Silvanus one of the most recognisable hotels in Visegrád.
